Balla Diakité "To be born in Kita Kuru and Boudéfô (holly place)"

Native of Kita; mythic town which is now the capital of peanut. Deeply rooted in its traditions, a mosaic of people living in perfect peace: Mandekas, Fulas, Soninkes and Sourakas, recognize themselves in the same cultural values. Located in the north west of Mali, this cultural centre of the Malian empire, school of the Jelis, Kita is on the way of every "bélentigui", great masters of the song and speech, agent of our former societies' memory. The filen kolon bala (the Sanza) has no more secrets for Balla Diakité who was remarked during the weeks of youth in Mali.

Balla Diakité, even if he's not a griot is a great master of the sanza and imposed himself as an alternative of the jelis' music (griots) in an hostile environment and where music is exclusively for "niamakala" (caste men). Balla recorded a lot of hits at the national radio before the recording of this album and a duet with Djigui Traoré. Balla's songs have all a social character: peace, agreement, etc…
