The heiress of the "Butterfly"

She appeared to the public almost three years ago, by the sides of late Tata Diakité. Déniba Sanogo begins a solo career with her first album, "Limpin", released on September 1, 2003.
"Jolie (Pretty)" is the nickname of Déniba. Nature certainly not gave her an exceptional beauty but filled her with real captivating assets: charm, elegance, imposing presence and especially an immense artistic talent.
This gift is perceptible in "Limpin" (panties that teenager girls wear in the Bambara society), the first work of her young and promising solo career. It is her availability and her high sense of professionalism that gave her the chance to be produced by Mahamane Traoré, the director of "Diiri Production".
"We were to make the chorus for Sory Cissé who was to put on sale his first album. Everything was ok for the beginning of the promotional tour which was to lead us in the area of Tombouctou. The other chorus-singer having made defection at the last time, I requested and obtained the contribution of a friend. Success was total everywhere we passed and as recognition for the well done work, Mahamane Traoré, after having listened to my model, decided to give me my chance" explains Déniba.
Even if Déniba did not know her mother whom she lost at a low age, she entirely inherited of her artistic qualities. Her mother was member of the ballet of Sirakoro. Her talent and her agility in dance won her the nickname "Firi firini" (butterfly).
At the fundamental school, Jolie starts her artistic career in company of Aminata Doumbia called Mimi (wife of Lassy King Massassy). She integrates thereafter the ballet "Kantigui" with which she makes a tour in Angers (France). After that, the troop of the district of Bah Issa Diallo took her. Thanks to all these different experiences, she slowly improved her technique of dance and learned how to sing. Déniba is admitted into the contemporary school of Ketly Noel where she is requested to make figuration in the clip of Mohamed Traoré "John".
Jolie will not any more leave the musical scene, Tata Diakité, Babani Koné, Samba Diallo, Djoss Samaké... will resort to her talent "It is an experiment which enabled me to understand many things in music and to undertake a Solo career", she specifies.
"Limpin" was delivered to the appreciation music lovers. The verdict is unambiguous; the album which was at the top of the best sales of the end of the year (2003) had an enormous success; a cordial reception that she partly owes to the promotional title of the opus "Limpin" which has given its name to the album. It’s a song which fustigates the sexual precocity and the perversity of the girls.
"The Limpin symbolizes the innocence and the purity of adolescence. Girls only left it to devote herselves to their husbands. It’s thus also the sign of the protected virginity until the marriage. But nowadays, the “Limpin” is soiled during adolescence. Girls cannot control their sexual attraction any more which covers lot of families with shame and humiliation ", explains the young star. With this title, our artist puts the finger on a wound of the society.
Wise, she affirms not to be impassioned in party nights or in other whims of the trendy lolitas. "That’s what lead to moral and social deviations. Because, finally, you will try to make things like the others even if you don’t have the means for that. The imitation pushes to some cupidity. To satisfy your whims, all the means will be good, even to sell yourself... ", says the girl.
Very grateful, Déniba Sanogo pays a vibrating homage to Tata Diakité whose death has deeply affected her."It took me a long time to admit this tragical and early disappearance. Tata and me were so close that people thought I was her daughter. On a side it is true because I was not only the chorus-singer of Tata, but her daughter, her sister, her friend and her confidante. Thus she realy deserved a homage on my first album", she declares with a sharp emotion and an immense sadness.
Presently, Jolie is working on the promotion of her product. She’s back from a tour in the area of Kayes and is on the point of taking again her stick of pilgrim to tour the whole of the country to meet her fans who are multiplying. Spectacles are envisaged in France from March.
With her twenty years old put up with charm and provocative elegance, Déniba was born in Birugu-Dafela (Kita) where the businesses of her father Diigui (tradesman) had led her. This ball of energy was born with a big handicap: she was an orphan since the firt day of her life because her mother did not survive to her birth . then it’s eay to understand why she has the same patronym as this mom she did not know.
Engaged to a contractor and hairdresser when she is not on scene, Jolie cleared a breach towards the success. If the pirates let her arrive at good port! "My album was one of the most pirated in 2003. But we will not let it go on like that because we do not want to endure the same sufferings and humiliations of our elder. The young artists, if they act, can be very effective because it is more easy for us to undertake certain actions which can disturb the adults".
But, she’s conscious that in this combat for survival, the contribution of each citizen is important "One day my aunt has surprised a man who had a bag filled of the jackets among which lot of mine. She alerted the police officers and my producer. Finally the man was stopped and led to the police station. If all the Malians can have the same reaction, piracy will disappear", underlines the enthusiast star who’s a fan of Siramory Diabaté and Sory Kandia Kouyaté .
This admiration shows her ambition to have the same international notoriety as these legends of the Mandingo song.
