Fati Kouyaté

Fati Kouyaté, Young artist
The heiress of the Kouyaté

Born from a virtuoso of the guitar and from a professional singer who has a worldwide fame, it was difficult for Fatoumata Kouyaté known as Fati to take another way. Indeed, the daughter of Modibo and Tata Bambo Kouyaté superbly engaged on their traces. She shows it on her first album which release is announced for soon.
"Music changed my life!" The sincere confession can appear anodyne, simple, to you … But, it summarizes eloquently the marriage of Fatoumata Kouyaté with music. With an elegance distilled with blow of charming smiles and an ingenuous timidity, Fati does not flare up too much when she speaks about her first try. "I gave the best of myself for the realization of this album and I hope that it will fill the expectations of the music lovers", she said. And yet, she should not nourish any complex compared to the result of her work which is already in competition with the works of the tenors in the national hit-parades.
This album of eight titles was produced by Wanda Records, the label of the nightingale Salif Kéita. It includes titles like Djéliya. "I want to perpetuate the family tradition. More and more young people are unaware of what is a griot, his function, his place… in a society. We have to safeguard the collective memory ", she says.
This album is also a delightful anthem to peace, love and a marvellous remake of "Bambo", the song which made, partly, the notoriety of her mother. Far from the young artist professional singer the idea to build her success on the success of her parents, it’s rather a well-deserved recognition and homage to her mother from who she profits of councils and experience. Even if this young trendy Khasonké with a silhouette of mannequin recognizes that, "Tata plays a great part in my career. Beyond her councils and encouragement, her name opens me doors everywhere in the world. This is a priceless advantage compared to other young artists".
Her mother transmitted her the virus of singing in her childhood. "I was inseparable from my mother. I followed her everywhere and I followed his repetitions and I tried to imitate her…" explains the seductive Fatoumata. She learns quickly and becomes the singer of her friends at school. At ten years old, her talent bursts and she doesn’t manage to continue school. She then stopped school and not for lack of intelligence. "I did not manage any more to concentrate. Even in the class-room, I thought to music. I cut the classes to go to ceremonies of baptism and marriage".
To progress, the teenager did not content with only the maternal and paternal school. Her passion for the music and her will to hoist among the best led her to be by the sides of Sadio Kouyaté, Salif Kéita, Assan Kida and Assa Dramé, her elder sister. "I learned much to their contact. To keep close to then brought me a great experiment which allowed me to progress in singing", recognizes Fati.
About twenty years old, betrothed, Fati has a lot of motivation to carry out her ambition. "My wish is to be a great artist and to have more success than Tata Bambo Kouyaté", she confesses. And those who know her better or those who already had the privilege to listen to her first try think that she has all assets to realize her dream. The first is her father, Modibo Kouyaté, one of the greatest guitarists of Mali. "Even if they are of different generation, Tata and Fati have a lot of things in common. Like her mother, Fati likes what she does. She’s not complicated and has no complexes. She is very modest comparatively to other young artists of her generation. These are the assets which allowed her mother to have the success which is hers. And I am sure that if she remains like that, Fati will go further than Tata", analyzes the husband and father.
An analysis shared by the legendary professional singer. Tata and Modibo constitute the principal rampart ensuring the heiress the maintenance on the way of the succession, on the way of her destiny. So be it for this ball of energy that has so much initiative to enrich her quiver by learning how to play kora and by her will to embrace a career of fashion model.
