Hadja Kouyaté
Her father and mother are both griots. They taught her music since she’s 5 years old through ceremonies in the villages of north guinea, at Gueckedougou and its surroundings where she grew up. In 1983, Hadja will come for the first time in Conakry with the instrumental ensemble of Gueckedougou for the National festival of arts and the culture as a professional singer.
She will return for the second time in Conakry in 1988 by her grand El hadj Diaraba KANTE, great Balafon player and member of the instrumental ensemble. A few times after, Hadja will meet the great lyric writer Amadou Sodia who will later become her husband. In 1989 Hadja appears for the first time on scene in Conakry during the Feskora. Thanks to that, she was recruited by the famous artist Mory Kanté for a symphonic group which will make a European tour in August 22, 1989. During the same year the husband of Hadja Kouyaté, Amadou Sodia was invited by Ousmane Kouyaté, the great guitarist in Paris. Since then, the young couple produces much in musical in Europe and the world.
The International career of Hadja Kouyaté started with the realization of the choruses of several great African artists, for example, the album of Oumou Diabaté, Kerfalla Kanté, the album Moffou de Salif Keïta and the last album Sinikan de Sékouba Bambino...
The album (Tomassere) is the first of the career of the singer Hadja Kouyaté, it has 8 titles, and the release is planned for Thursday 6th March, 2003.
