What does the syndicate of the Bumda want?

The conference days about the piracy of artistic and literature works took place in Bamako on 9, 10, and 11 September 2003 at the palace of congress under the chairmanship of the minister of culture Cheick Oumar Sissoko.
At the end of the conference, a few recommendations have been made among which
-The elaboration of texts to rule the profession of producer and distributors of phonograms and video in the republic of Mali.
-The revision of the law n° 84-26/AN6RM of 17th October 1984 governing the literate and artistic propriety in Mali.
-The introduction of the teaching of the authors rights in the modules of the law studies and in the programs of civic and moral education.
-The definite banning of the importation of phonograms, of cultural and artistic Malian works during a period of three years.
-The engagement of producers and importers to manufactures tapes in the identified manufactures and under control of a society of author rights with an importation licence.
-The adhesion of Mali o the convention of Rome concerning the connected rights.
-The popularization of the stickers with serial number on all the territory.
-The creation of an anti-piracy squad.
-The instauration of professional card for the re-sellers.
-The setting up of a commission of control for the present recommendations.
In his ending lecture, the minister Cheick Oumar Sissoko didn’t pull his punches. He went beyond his official lecture to tell the truth to the astonished participants. Engaged director on all these masterpieces (Nyamanto, Genèse, Guimba le Tyran…), Cheick is a man of duty and conviction who doesn’t beat about the bush to express his opinions. He said clearly that the time has come for every body to change his behaviour. Concerning the struggle against piracy, he denounced the complicity of some agents of the Malian Authors Rights Office (Bumba) , the hypocrisy of some producers and importers who show publicly that they fight against piracy and kill in the shadow art and the creators.
The minister asked clearly to the agents of the BUMDA to evaluate positively in their behaviour otherwise very quickly, he would be obliged to get rid of the deadwoods in this service whose action against piracy isn’t really clear. As the agents didn’t appreciated the last words of the minister, their syndicate reacted by wanting to see the minister in private. No one knows want they could have told to the minister but they went out, some heard their delegates shouting angrily to each other in the street of the ministry of culture.
Some of them said that their “tooth hadn’t come out at the Bumda”. It’s clear because they have been engaged because they were thought to be major, competent and honest to serve the Mali and protect art. It’s sure that they cannibal tooth hadn’t come out at the Bumda, but they consolidated them there so much that they began to suck the blood of the creators in tacit complicity with those vampire of pirates.

By deciding to attack the minister instead of changing their behaviours, those agents are getting the wrong struggle. It’s evident that they will never manage to shake this baobab, a creator who’s among their victims; now that he’s supported by all the forces of our nation. First of them are the artists who, under the impulsion of the young Rokia Traoré, Habib Koité, Kandia Kouyaté, Oumou Sangaré, Binkè Traoré, King, Amkoullel, Aly Farka Touré, Babani Koné, Nafi Diabaté, Astan Kida, Djagawara Sali… met once again at the “Carrefour des jeunes” to manifest their discontent and re-affirm their unfailing support to the minister Cheick Oumar Sissoko; an honest and competent leader who has the support of the national press and of all those who want to see real changes in this country.
God knows how numerous they are. The tune is given, let’s every body play his part.

Folk Life Effects?
In the Mag n°29, we announced the departure of Yeli Fuzzo and his brother for their studies. As soon as they arrived, the American tour manager took contact with Yéli Konaté called Yeli Fuzzo for the promotion of new hit "Mali Djaka", but also to manage him in America. For the time being, “the crazy” hasn’t lost his lucidity, he’s considering seriously every proposition to make the best choice. This is why he asked Mali k7 for counsels. You too, trust in Mali k7 SA.
