The creators at ATT’s (Amadou Toumani Touré, President of the Republic of Mali)
On the eve of the closing of the biennale, the president Amadou Toumani Touré received the members of jury at Koulouba. The chief of the state had a fruitful and warm interview with Benson Diakité, Boncana Maïga, Kettly Noël, Habib Koité, Aïda Mady Diallo, Cheick Tidiane Seck, the President Habib Dembélé called Guimba… they were brought there by the minister of culture, Cheick Oumar Sissoko.

ATT and his guest have unanimously recognize that this biennale has been a real success although the tricky moments due to the resumption of the event after 15 years of interruption. Habib Koité, “best artist” of West Africa during the last edition of the Koras Awards, reminded the president that the billions the government has invested in this event to make it a springboard for the artistic and cultural promotion will probably be of no use because of a scourge: Piracy. “We have discovered a lot of young talents during this biennale. But their carrier is already compromised by piracy that makes that no artists can blossom and make a living on his art in Mali… ”, said the king of the Doson Dansa. And his mates followed him immediately on this path. Then we assisted to a real debate on piracy in Koulouba. The minister Cheick Oumar Sissoko has especially recall the president the sad story of the market where in the boxes of the itinerant sellers, 9 tapes on 10 are pirated.

The president ATT has reaffirmed his trust in Cheick Oumar Sissoko and asks him to make rapidly concrete propositions to eradicate piracy in all its forms. Habib almost missed the meeting as he was a few minutes late because of the jam and the rain. And the security agents logically impeached him to join the other guest already discussing with ATT.
Fortunately he had brought a sample of each of his albums. He gave them to the agents for ATT who demanded to call him to join them. Thus Habib took part in this reception and raised this determining debate in the struggle against piracy.

22 September in Abidjan
The Citizen Movement section of Abidjan celebrated the 43e birthday of the independence of the Republic of Mali in a packed hall of the congress palace of Abidjan (4.000 seats). To colour the event, the Malians of Ivory Coast invited Nabintou Diakité, Ismaël Isaac, Adama Dahico et Mama Doumbia. The party, which was co presided by the Ivorian state minister to integration, Mister Meleg Theodore, and the rich Malian Abdoulaye Diallo, was wonderful.

By Mali K7
This time is the good one; the new album of Sékou Kouyaté will be available next Thursday (2nd October). It’s the decision of the leaders of Mali K7 in collaboration with Ibrahima Sylla, the producer of the artist. Sékou Kouyaté is awaited in Bamako at the end of the year for promotion shows and repetitions for the future album of Djénèba Seck which recording is planned for the first trimester of 2004. The album "Fassan Diarabi" is a musical master piece of 10 new tracks on which the emotive voice of Sékou Kouyaté transports you in the secrete Bamanan society. Attracted by perfection, he’s always in search of new sounds. He’s probably one of the rare Malian artists who manage to give a majestic dimension to the simple popular melody. This album"Fassan Diarabi" reveals the state of mind of our artist.
Defender of our traditional values, his music, although turned toward modernity, doesn’t lose it soul. "Fassan Diarabi" is a panorama of the rich Bamanan culture. Sékou sings the daily life of his citizen mates; denounce the deprivation of the customs; celebrates love
without which, there’re no peace, and fight for union, which is the guarantee of succeeding.

Kassé Mady Diabaté
is back. The child of Kéla is back with a new album, "Nyamalo", produced by Lucy Duran and Eduardo Llerenas.
A sumptuous album of ten tracks with the Mandingo perfume on which the entrancing voice of Kassé Mady explodes.
Almost unknown at home, Balla Tounkara is yet a veneered star in occident and especially in the united states where he lives since a few years. He shows himself in his first album "Be Right"(ten tracks) on which he’s surrounded with the stars of international music. Bangnèrèyé, Dianfa, Kèlèmagni, Kita fasa, Sida, Le monde est fou… are wonderful tracks of the prince of Kita which will please the music lovers.
It’s been a long time since we lost the news of the Diata Band. And to show that silence is not obligatory decline, the band is back with a new album: "Zani"! A way for Ousmane Dicko, Abou Camara, Idrissa Magassa, Alpha Camara, Baco Kéita to praise Zani Diabaté who is the creator of the band. The great guitar and drum player is not physically present on the album but he is trough this deserved tribute. This work will be available on October 2nd on usual places. It has been recorded in live so it’s very dancing.
