Tassouma Woyo
The band that makes the youth move

Does the name Tassouma Woyo ring you a bell? What about Zabanci (read Zambatchi)? It must remind the new dance which making teenagers and children wriggle in night clubs. This new dance led the Tassouma Woyo to success. They are seven, they are young, they have talent and they have a fire temper. The band is composed of Abdoulaye Fofana "Fofy" (lead vocal), Lassina Sinayoko "Boby LJ" (choreography and drums), Idrissa Sidibé "Idriss Champion" (song, dance and drums), Cheick Oumar Diaby "Bon Mogo (song, dance and harmonica), Moctar Coulibaly "Tari" (chorus and dance), Youssouf Koné "Ives (chorus and dance) and Kalil Ibrahim Kaba "General" (chorus and dance). They are all from Bamako Coura-Dravéla and are managed by Ismaél Diop.
They are adulated by the children, the teenagers, and even the parents. This band has a special style, they do not rap, and they innovated and found their way: the “Zabanci”.
The Zabanci is a mix of two cultures: the “Zouglou” coming from Ivory Coast where they all were born and “sonorities of Mali”, their country of origin. Like most of the young people of the continent, they chose music to denounce the bad conditions of life of Africans in a style different from rap and on a more conciliating tone than hip hop.
They don’t know the verbal violence; the “Zabanci” is a music of ambiance, for feast and this is why the leading track of this opus is called "Séliba" or feast of the cheep (Tabaski).
The “Zabanci” became a feeling, an assembling movement in all the capital, maybe even in all the country. So we easily understand that the protégés of Ismaél Diop share the Malian scene with the best of the African showbiz. The band has already shared scenes with Alpha Blondy, Tiken Jah Fakoly, Sékouba Bambino Diabaté, Coumba Gawlo, Ismaél Isaac, Tata Pound.
Their first album "Yapèkè" is on sale since December 19th, 2002 and has a huge success. It still has a good place in the hit-parades. The band is always on tour in the country because there are lot of invitations. Now they just have to give themselves the means to enter the international showbiz because they have enough talent to take a place there.

The Boy's of Badala back to the fold
The band Tata Pound is back to the fold after a fructuous stay in Burkina Faso and France. In Ouagadougou they took part in the international festival of rap called "Ouaga Hip hop". There were twelve bands in total at the festival and Tata Pound has made a wonderful and unforgettable show.
Djo Dama, Ramsès and Dixon then went to France where they animated a concert at the occasion of the previewing of the documentary film "Odyssée des musique du monde" last October 17th in Enghin (France). This journey was very fructuous for the band because they made featuring with famous star of the rap such as Môgôbè of the band 113 and Fresh. Tata pound promises to their fans a huge and nice surprise in a few times. So do your best not to miss it because when Tata promises, it’s always fabulous!

The nightingale always higher
The crooner continues his European tour which began on last October 3rd in Saint Denis (Parisian suburb). After a stop in Torino (Italy), the nightingale provisory ended the French stage with the huge show given in the occasion of "Les Nuits de champagne" in Troyes. During November, the prodigy of Badougou Djoliba is awaited in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Great Britain.

The rose goes up in the hits
It seems that the promotional tour of Rokia Traoré has been fructuous because she doesn’t stop climbing in the hit parades. Last month, she was at the top of the World Charts, the most prestigious World music hit in Europe. Rokia managed to surpass the capverdian singer Césaria Evora. Not a lot of people managed to do that before. Moreover, she has a good place in the world ranking of the FNAC she’s among the 30 best sellers in all genres. This commercial success made of her the headlines of the musical press in Europe. Last month, she was on the cover of famous magazines which are world references.
