Prix RFI Musiques du Monde 2004
Created in 1981 by the name “Découvertes RFI”, this price constitutes for the African, Caribbean artists and those of the Indian Ocean a invaluable support to the development of their career on the market of the disc and of spectacle.
The Final of this year opposed Idrissa to Ba Cissoko of Guinea Conakry and Abdou Guité Seck of Senegal. According to the information we received, the final was played on only one point between Idrissa Soumaoro and Ba Cissoko of the Republic of Guinea. After the vote, there were three voices against three voices and it is the final voice of the president of the jury that rocked the balance on the side of our artist. Mali thus gains its seventh trophy after those of Nahawa Doumbia, Amadou et Mariam, Mangala Camara, Dogoba Seydou, Habib Koité and Rokia Traoré. All these prizes winner, except Mangala Camara and Dogoba Seydou, are today itinerant ambassadors of a part of our rich culture. We then congratulate Idrissa Soumaoro who has just honoured our country with a seventh trophy.
Idrissa Soumaoro and his group will fly to Paris on next December 14th in order to receive his reward RFI Musiques du Monde on next December 16th in front of the international press. Inspector of Fundamental school, Idrissa who began with the band called “les ambassadeurs du Motel” of Bamako, put during a long time his musical career on ice to devote itself to education. Today, close to retirement, Idrissa intends to embrace an international career to share with the world his vision of a world of peace, justice and solidarity. "Kotè", produced by Syllart Production, was a master stroke and Idrissa quite confirms the Malian proverb which says that the delicious sauces come from the old pots. Good wind Idrissa!

Yalomba too
While the jury of the finale of the “Prix RFI Musique du Monde” was deliberating, Adama Yalomba and his band honoured the public with a memorable spectacle in the French arts centre of Bamako. Adama Yalomba made a demonstration of his class and maturity. Pending his tour of spring 2005, Yalomba definitively ensured all his fans.

Happy Bambino Birthday
Except Habib Koité retained in Bamako for the official launching of the festival of the Desert, all the guests were present at Conakry for the 15th birthday of the career solo of the international Guinean. MBilia Bel, Ismaël Lo and Africando were present. The Guinean Artists also were present: Bembeya Jazz (the orchestra of his beginnings), Oumou Dioubaté, Mory Djéli Kouyaté, Sékouba Fatako and other Yaya Bangoura.
Three days before the event, the festive atmosphere was perceptible in the Guinean capital. It is thus, in front of a crowd of friends, fans and music lovers that the birthday began on last November 27th in the “palais du people” of Conakry. The evening began with the Bembeya Jazz of Sékou Bembeya, Hasken Kaba, Sékou Camara le gros, Mangala Condé, Kaba salifou and others interpreting two of their old hits all together, Sabu and télégramme. The evening continued with the performances of the Guinean artists who, for the occasion interpreted, each a title of Bambino before continuing by another title of their own repertory. MBilia Bel, Ismael Lo and africando followed thereafter. There was only one problem during the evening with the Guinean company of distribution of electricity which waited the turn of the Master Bambino to deprive the Guinean capital of electricity. The festival then ended on a taste of bitterness. Mali which is a hospitality and welcoming land is ready to receive the 16th birthday of Bambino.
